Anachronism
I accidentally entered a new decade yesterday. Ouch. “You are aggressive & passionate.  You are dominant, persuasive & unwilling to give in when you believe you are right.  You are possessive, caring & curious.”  “Let someone else take care of matters that are getting you down or causing you to make poor choices.  You have to take a break to reevaluate & sort...

The moment immediately before the glove hits.
A chance for retraction, slowed down (and in colour!)

I’ve been listening to too much depressing music. To counteract the effects of this, I plan to listen to Supertramp as much as humanly possible until the weekend is done. Perhaps my ethics essay will be more layered, progressive, optimistic, and introspective as a result.

Dialectic
The word ‘feedback’ connotes either unnecessary noise or constructive replies. Is it worse for people to choose not to give feedback or for them to not have the option to choose? I ask this to the only person that is listening. Sara: I think that you need to stop analyzing meaningless neutralities. Sara: But what if it means something? Sara: Go to sleep you fucking idiot. Sara: That’s...

Current Events
What if past presidents were treated in the same manner as overthrown Greek emperors? By now George’s nose and tongue would have been viciously slit. Over the next few days he would be led through Washington D.C. while American citizens threw fecal matter at his bloodied face. Then, he would be taken to the highest tower of a monastery where he would be left to rot until the present president...

more terrifying than jack torrance
I have had intermittent, almost debilitating stomach pains for the past few days. Because of my tendency to blow these things way out of proportion, I’ve suspected that it is due to either appendicitis or a fatal ulcer. This fear was unnecessarily provoked by the evils of technology not more than two minutes ago. Somewhere amongst the layers of windows on my screen, an audio pop-up that...

after the fact
Theatre taught me to show rather than to tell. Blogspot gave me the ability to take this idea too far. The preschool theory offers a more sensible alternative: it emphasizes that showing and telling should be done in concert. I have found that Tumblr is more conducive to this model and consequently have decided to abandon the Blogspot matrix indefinately (probably).

Round 1: The Wrestler
This movie is the best example of why actors should play who they are in real life. Fuck pretending. Mickey Rourke bleeds, pukes, and pisses out one of the most beautiful, real, and downright heart breaking performance I’ve seen in my short lifetime. And if his earlier performances weren’t quite obvious enough for an Academy Award, I hope now they realize the true subtlety and grace that Rourke...

Frustration tends to shut the body down completely. Other machines start working in place of organs. Buttons and signs and extensions of the self usurp control. No real thought, no real motion, no real digestion. A total cyborg takeover minus the feminist slant.

oscar preview/purview
The glow of the Academy Awards is growing somewhere in the inland empire right now, waiting to crawl over the Hollywood Hills and into the numbing sphere of Los Angeles. As it sits like a dormant volcano, I plan to discuss possible nominations and problems surrounding this mountain of asinine aesthetic judgment. Luckily I have until Thursday until the list of nominations limits my perceptions.
